The Department of Health announced the certification of 1,096 people so they can receive medical cannabis treatment , as well as permits for 35 authorized companions, during the PuertoCann.Biz convention held last week at the Wyndham Rio Mar in Rio Grande .
” These people received a medical evaluation, they were registered in our portal and they received their identification as a medical cannabis patient. All this in a single day, “said Dr. Rafael Rodríguez Mercado , Secretary of Health.
Among the people who received their authorization, are minors and veterans served by personnel of the Medicinal Cannabis Division.
” Likewise, the patients had access, at no additional cost, to an educational program of seminars on the medical aspects of cannabis and they benefited from the opportunity to converse with different resources recognized locally and internationally in the use of cannabis for different conditions of health “, explained Rodríguez Mercado.
During the event some educational topics were presented about the most recent discoveries of cannabis treatment for conditions such as cancer, PTSD, opioid addiction, insomnia, glaucoma, chronic pain, fibromyalgia and arthritis.
